Well, here it is.
My last post. ta da!
In my first post, I said that hopefully by the end of CCL Learn, I would be a little less deranged. I would like to think that I am, but some days I am not so sure,LOL.
Have enjoyed (for the most part) CCL Learn and have definitely learnt some new things (which is what it's all about isn't it?). Not sure if I will ever use much of what I have learnt, either for work or personally, but I guess it's enough that I have some idea what's out there in the big wide blue.
Have enjoyed the chats with my fellow colleagues who have been on a similar journey and I wish those of you in following groups all the best and hope you get a lot out of the process.
So for now, this is me signing over and out.
Bye!

LTNP=Long Time No Post
hi there everyone,
Feels like ages since I last posted on here, and that would be because it IS a long time since I last posted.
Anyway, what with one thing and another, CCLLearn and blogging have taken a bit of a back seat, so thought I had better get going again even though this is our 2nd to last week of CCL Learn and I suspect that once its all over, this blog will, as they say, die.Ah well, all good things come to an end!
Have been looking at NZ2.0 Web 2.0 and did find it quite interesting in that one could (and did) go off on various tangents and discover all sorts of interesting things.Even the Government blogs and RSS feeds were fairly interesting and I could see how they would be useful.
Am looking forward to Skypeing, although from what I have done so far, it brings back shades of chatting on Yahoo and MSN, so isn't that scary, but I am having bad flashbacks to those days, and its not good.
I think I would mainly use Skype to keep in touch with one of my neices who is over in London (she has YET to add me though grrrrrrrrrrrrr)but thats about all.
Ok, better get on and do some work!

Week 5
Well here we are again.
Am creating this document in Zoho writer and its OK. Just another word processing program. Didn't think there is anything that special about it.
Have used Google Docs before and that's ok as well.
Was impressed by LibraryThing and have joined.
I'm not sure how much I will use it, but it seems to be a great "thing" to recommend to customers. I also use Books and Authors (from our premium sites) and find that to be really good, in that, if you are not sure what to read next, B&A has a widget called Who,What,Where,When which allows you to choose all or only some of those parameters and it will select books according to your selections.
Very very cool.
In fact, am getting a little annoyed with Zoho (I only tried it beacuse I have never heard of Zoho before) as it pops up this wee box every now and then wanting you to save your document, even right in the middle of typing one's document!grrrrr
I can see a LOT of folks getting annoyed with this...mainly me!
But que sera sera.

At last!
Whew! Week 4 done and dusted.
Being a trainer, I am used to presenting a topic to a group, so I decided to use a long customer interaction I had the other day as my "trainee".It was a very, very long interaction to which I had to use my reference skills to their limit (not to mention my schoolgirl French pronunciation-don't ask!)but managed to help the customer, which made us both happy :)
Anyway, am looking forward to the weekend and starting Week 5 next week
Au revoir!

Wow
Whew!
That was quite challenging actually. Have just done the publishing module and I found parts of it quite difficult, e.g zipping a file, as I have never done that before. I don't feel fully confident with it, but am sure that I could bluff my way around if I had to. Forget trying to explain it to anyone however..just not going to happen!
I did enjoying using templates etc as someone creatively challenged such as myself prefers someone else do all the hard work creating templates etc.
That being said, I do quite enjoy making word documents look "pretty" and its quite satisfying to get them looking nice!
Onwards and upwards me compadres!

Hello possums

Social Networking...............hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Not much more to say than what others have already posted on here. I have already joined, deleted/suspended my account from so many social networking sites that I have lost track of them all. I had a look at Ning quite some time ago, joined up, didn't like it and deleted my account.Just tried Ning again and found it just as awful as before, so have permanently deleted my account there. I find with sites such as Facebook etc, that so much time can be wasted , tis almost criminal. I DO see the ways in which social networking could be useful in a professional sense, but again, I am very unlikely to join these sites professionally, that it seems a waste of my time even looking at them. I have, however, done the right thing, and at least had a glance at them, but they seem very dry and dull. But what do I know? am just a deranged LA with a headache.
Bye for now.
Here we go again
hi all,
Well, have just finished "Discovery" and I have to say I did rather enjoy the section on searchbots. I do like things where you can create a character but did find this one a little, dare I say it, childish?? But however, I gave it a go and I can see how it would be useful. I admit I am not a great reader of screeds of info online, so I did rather skim the reading bits. I didn't worry about joining stumbleupon, beacause I feel that there is soo much out there to join that you could go gaga joining it all and then never use it.
anyway, am keeping on track, although I think I might have to pull an all weekender to get this all done...oh well, time's a wasting!

dum de dum

hi all,
Just finished Photos and Images. Yes. Well. Interesting. I apologise if I seem a little negative about all this, but I find that apart from work I will probably never use any of these things. I know thats the point,(to use these things at work) but AGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I am so over this already.
I did find P&I interesting and I guess I am kinda pleased that I managed to actually take a photo with a digital camera and upload it to Flickr from the camera ( somehow I couldn't login to the ccl staff account but only to my own personal one(the photo IS tagged and able to be viewed by anyone though).
Yes I guess I am a technophobe in that I still prefer old fashioned ways of doing some things.OK, not to the extent of film photos etc, but I leave all this kinda stuff to the husband. It's his bag, baby.Anyway, here is the photo that I took. Hope its OK.
Till next time,
Yours derangededly.
PS, Just had a thought. Maybe I'm finding this all a bit, errrr, boring as I already know how to upload photos etc. In the immortal words of Elle Woods..."Like its hard??"

%$#^&^&^%%^**&
hi again,
Have been reading and exploring re podcasts and RSS. Personally, I see no earthly point in these. Who has the time to read all those feeds or listen to stuff online when you can just turn on the radio with a flick of a button. Oh well, I guess there are lots of people who likes these sort of things but its not for me. I know that the point of all this is so we can help people with them, but personally I figure that anyone who wants these things will have figured them out by now by themselves.
Well, that's my rant for today. That is all.

AGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Well, here it is , post number 2. Hmmmm, not sure about this blogging thing. Its hard work to think of something new and interesting to write about each week and my brain hurts enough as it is. Oh well.
Might be one of those things that sits there for weeks and never gets a look in, but we will see.
Anyway, am now in my 2nd week of my secondment, and as far as I can tell, things are going OK. At least, I have'nt been tossed out on my ear, but there's time, there's time. Am learning heaps of new things and refreshing my memory on how to do things that I don't usually get to do.
So, anwyay, better get on
Byeeeeeeeeeeeee..till next time.:)

Hello
hi all,
This is the first of a series (well, will see how long it lasts) of blogs from a deranged LA (library assistant).
Have been working as a LA for nearly 3 years now, and although its not a long time in relation to how long some others have been here, its still a long time for me.
Being deranged makes for an interesting time at work. Makes the day go faster thats for sure. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job however, some days, all I want to do at the end of it is drown in a vat of gin.
Anyway, hope that by the end of this, I will have learnt some new and cool things and hopefully I will be a little less deranged....or not.
